Quad City area schools, March-April, 2018 – Starting Monday, approximately 4,000 local students will wrap oak trees for the Living Lands & Waters (LL&W) MillionTrees Project (MTP). The traveling unit will be visiting area schools every weekday from March 26 to April 17 (see page 2 for full list of locations and dates) between the hours of 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. (except where noted). Students from 12 local schools spanning from Davenport to Geneseo will wrap more than 70,000 oak saplings, which were harvested from the LL&W tree nursery by North Scott Junior High students. The tree wrapping events are essential to keep the trees alive between harvesting and planting. The trees will be distributed to hundreds of residents and businesses across 20 states. Most events will be privately held at local schools but one event, held on April 6-7, located at the East Moline Bus Garage (2025 Morton Drive), is open to the public. Hours of operation for this event are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Register at https://form.jotform.com/80225143664149 (clickable link found under LL&W’s Facebook events).
