Rock Island, IL – Christian Care is pleased to announce that the Doris and Victor Day Foundation, the Rock Island Community Foundation and the In from the Cold Board of Directors have awarded funding support to Christian Care.

Christian Care is the only homeless men’s shelter in the Illinois Quad Cities, serving men ages 18 and older, who are in need of a clean and comfortable place to stay, food and clothing and, most important, a sense of hope and direction. Established in 1916, by founder Guy Rodgers, Christian Care (formerly the Rock Island Rescue Mission) has served our community’s homeless population for over 100 years by transforming the lives of the least, the last and the lost.

Funding from the Day Foundation will support Christian Care’s community meal site, while In from the Cold will support electrical work and outdoor heaters for the center’s gazebo area. Funding from the RI Community Foundation will go toward purchasing new furniture for the center’s TV/library room that is utilized by residents of the shelter.

We greatly appreciate the funding we have received from these fine organizations. We value the trust and faith our community has placed in Christian Care. “By providing safe shelter, resources and support, Christian Care empowers the homeless to make positive changes in every aspect of their lives.”
