Rock Island, IL and Davenport, IA--Christian Care in Rock Island and the Humility of Mary, Inc. of Davenport hosted the 5th Annual Have a Heart for the Homeless Luncheon on Saturday, February 3, 2018. The event was held at CASI, 1035 W. Kimberly Road, Davenport, IA. Tickets got you a catered lunch by Biaggi’s and entertainment. A silent auction and raffle baskets was also available.

Rock Island, IL – Saturday, February 3, 2018 marked the 3rd Annual “Soup or Bowls” food drive sponsored by Discounted Furniture in Rock Island. Canned food and other donations were accepted at the Rock Island Hy-Vee located at 2930 18th Avenue, Rock Island. All proceeds benefit Christian Care, homeless men’s shelter in Rock Island and QC Paws, animal care shelter in Moline. All those who donate were entered into a prize drawing.

Rock Island, IL $2.000 was awarded to Christian Care from the City of Rock Island’s Gaming Funds. The funding will support a partnership between the Rock Island County Council on Addictions and Christian Care for the provision of on-site substance abuse counseling services. Christian Care provides safe shelter, food, clothing and other supportive services to homeless men in our community and is the only homeless men’s shelter in the Illinois Quad Cities.

Rock Island, IL Christian Care was awarded grant funding of $2,000 from the Wilbert and Carol Keppy Charitable Foundation, $1,000 from the Harris Family Charitable Fund at the Community Foundation of the Great River Bend and $1,769 from the Mel McKay Trust. Funds will be used to support the various programs and services provided through Christian Care.

Rock Island, IL As temperatures are expected to dip into single digits in the Quad Cities, more and more members of our community will be struggling to stay warm. Winter is a harsh time in the Quad City area and Christian Care is committed to helping those who are less fortunate. As an Emergency Warming Center, Christian Care opens its’ doors to those needing assistance when outside temperatures are below ten degrees and/or the wind chill is below zero.

Rock Island, IL - For over 100 years, Christian Care has been serving the least, the last, and the lost in the Quad Cities. Currently, the 36-bed men’s homeless shelter is full with many still waiting and in need of shelter.

Rock Island, IL A $1,500 award was granted to the Christian Care Center in Rock Island, IL. The funds will be used to build two additional vegetable garden beds at the shelter. “By providing safe shelter, support and resources, Christian Care empowers the homeless to make positive changes in every aspect of their lives.” The garden will help defray the cost of fresh vegetables for our meal service.

Rock Island, IL – A $5,000 award was granted to the Christian Care Center in Rock Island, IL in support of its case management programming.

Rock Island, IL – Christian Care is pleased to announce that the Doris and Victor Day Foundation, the Rock Island Community Foundation and the In from the Cold Board of Directors have awarded funding support to Christian Care.

Rock Island, IL – Summer can be a harsh time in the Quad Cities for many in our community. As the temperature and heat indexes rise, many members of our community struggle to stay cool. Christian Care is dedicated to helping those who are less fortunate by opening its doors as an Emergency Cooling Center when temperatures are 90 degrees and above. Those needing assistance are welcome between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. seven days a week.
