DES MOINES, IOWA (February 1, 2024) — The Libertarian Party of Iowa (LPIA) has announced that four-term US Congresswoman and 2020 Presidential Candidate Lt Col Tulsi Gabbard will be the keynote speaker at the upcoming LPIA Dinner on Saturday, February 17. This event promises to be a momentous occasion as Lt Col Gabbard is known for her principled stance on individual liberties and non-interventionist foreign policy. Through formal remarks and casual conversation, Lt Col Gabbard will engage with guests over the important values of freedom, liberty, and a variety of issues that unite Iowans.

Gabbard currently serves in the US Army Reserve and brings a unique perspective to the Libertarian Party of Iowa event. She has consistently championed issues such as civil liberties, criminal-justice reform, and a more restrained approach to US military interventions, aligning with many core principles of the Libertarian Party.

Jules Cutler, Chair of the LPIA, emphasized the party's commitment to attracting those who find themselves outside the traditional political spectrum. "As the third major party in Iowa, the LPIA is gaining momentum and drawing the attention of individuals who seek an alternative to the mainstream options."

Cutler added, "Libertarians approach every issue, domestic and foreign, through the lens of what will best ensure the safety, security, and freedom of the American people. Congresswoman Gabbard shares our stances on critical issues such as opposing unconstitutional foreign wars, advocating for accountability in the Federal Reserve, and opposing civil-asset forfeiture. Her alignment with many libertarian principles makes her an ideal voice to bring further attention to issues that matter to Iowans."

The LPIA Dinner will commence on Saturday, February 17, starting with a reception, 5:30-6:30PM, providing attendees with the unique opportunity to interact with Tulsi Gabbard. The dinner will follow at 7PM, with the keynote speech at approximately 7:45PM. The event will be held at the Holiday Inn Des Moines Downtown-Mercy Campus (1050 6th Ave, Des Moines, Iowa, 50314).

The event is open to the public. Dinner tickets will be available for purchase starting February 2 through the Libertarian Party of Iowa website at lpia.org.
