LEBANON, ILLINOIS (January 28, 2026) — McKendree University announced today the launch of a new Bachelor of Science (BS) in Agribusiness, beginning Fall 2026. The program, housed within McKendree's School of Business, is designed to prepare students for leadership roles across the agricultural sector by combining a strong business foundation with agricultural expertise.

Delivered through an accessible transfer pathway, the Agribusiness program allows students to begin their education at a community college before transferring to McKendree to complete a Bachelor's degree. The pathway is designed to improve access, support affordability, and create meaningful opportunities for upward career mobility across the agricultural economy.

The program will be available in both in-person and online formats to support a range of student needs and learning preferences.

"Southern Illinois and the greater Midwest are home to one of the nation's most productive agricultural regions, with continued demand for professionals who understand both the operational realities of agriculture and the skills required to lead and grow organizations across the industry," said Dr Tami Eggleston, Provost of McKendree University.

"McKendree's Agribusiness program responds directly to that demand by offering a local, high-quality option that connects education to regional employment needs."

The Agribusiness program builds on McKendree's partnerships with John A Logan College, Kaskaskia College, and Southwestern Illinois College — creating seamless transfer opportunities for students completing agriculture-related associate degrees, with additional community college partnerships planned.

"The Agribusiness program reflects McKendree's commitment to offering academic programs that are grounded in the needs of our region and accessible to the students we serve," said Daniel C Dobbins, President of McKendree University.

"By delivering this degree through a clear transfer pathway, we are expanding access to a high-quality Bachelor's degree while strengthening the workforce pipeline for one of the Midwest's most essential industries."

More information about the program is available through the McKendree University Office of Admission at admissions@mckendree.edu or at mckendree.edu.
