ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (October 16, 2019) — Miss Mississippi Crown Scholarship Organization officials announced today the revival of the Miss Mississippi Crown Competition will be held on October 27 at 4PM. The Miss Mississippi Crown Scholarship Organization is proud to welcome more than 10 candidates from around the state to the competition, which will take place at the Center for Living Arts West Location in the old Establishment Theatre in Rock Island.
Stacy Paper and Nicole Young, co-executive directors, said they are impressed with the caliber of this year’s candidates. “For our first year as directors of this program, we are very pleased with the number of intelligent, ambitious and talented young women who have entered the competition,” Young said. “It will be a challenging task for the judges to choose the next Miss Mississippi Crown.”
Contestants will compete in 4 phases of competition , including private interview, talent, evening wear, and onstage interview. During the competition, each contestant will also discuss her chosen social-impact initiative, a social or community issue of concern to herself and our society at large.
The winner of the Miss Mississippi Crown Competition will be awarded $500 in scholarship funds for her college or graduate school education. In addition, she will receive an expansive award package sponsored by many local businesses. Another $750 will be awarded to preliminary competition-winners, runners-up, special-award winners, and teen-winners.
During her year of service, Miss Mississippi Crown will travel across the state, speaking to government officials, business leaders, community groups, and all types of citizens about her platform issue and encouraging them to become involved in her cause. She will also be eligible to compete for the Miss Illinois title in June 2020.
Miss Mississippi Crown will not only serve as a role model for young women and as an ambassador for the Miss America Organization, she will also urge girls and young women to develop their leadership skills and to take an active role in their communities.
