December 26, 2017 -The Clement T. Hanson Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in December of 1985 by his family, following the death of Mr. Hanson. The Moline Foundation administers and invests The Hanson Scholarship Fund.
Each scholarship award will be $1,500 for the academic year (up to $6,000 total for four years). Scholarship recipients will be eligible for renewal in three subsequent years, based on continued financial need and scholastic achievement under the guidelines set by The Moline Foundation. The finalist candidate's potential for future personal achievement will be evaluated by the Scholarship Selection Committee, as determined by a personal interview.
Applicants should apply online at www.molinefoundation.org. All scholarships must be submitted by midnight on Friday, March 16, 2018. All reference letters need to be mailed with a postmark on or before March 16, 2018. Reference letters should be mailed to: The Moline Foundation 1601 River Drive, Suite 210, Moline, Illinois 61265.
Scholarship funds will be distributed through the school financial aid office. Distribution will be one-half at the beginning of the school year and one-half at the beginning of the second semester. Scholarship funds may be applied to any component of the school's comprehensive fee, at the discretion of the financial aid office. Only completed applications will be considered.
Scholarship Candidates Must:
  • be a graduating high school senior or community college student preparing to transfer to a four-year college or university. 
  • live within Moline, Illinois School District No. 40 geographic boundaries for Moline-Coal Valley Public Schools.
  • intend to pursue a bachelor’s degree on a full-time basis with a minimum of 12 hours per semester.
  • demonstrate financial need, presented through the scholarship application, a personal interview, and information confirmed by the financial aid office of the selected college (available at time of interview). 
  • have achieved high school scholastic performance in the upper one-third of their class, or community college grade point performance of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, or equivalent. 
  • submit a transcript and an essay about yourself. (200 words or less). 
  • submit two letters of reference.
