The Hazel Van Arsdale Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in honor and memory of Hazel Van Arsdale to continue the importance of music in elementary and secondary education. Hazel Van Arsdale was an elementary school teacher in Moline School District No. 40 who encouraged her students to appreciate music and participate in music education and activities. One $1,000 scholarship is given to a high school senior annually who is an active participant in vocal and/or instrumental music through their education in the Moline-Coal Valley Public Schools and who plans to attend a four-year college or university with a major or minor course of study in education and/or music. This scholarship is based on financial need, potential for future personal achievement, and a brief essay. The funds will be paid directly to the educational institution. Only completed applications will be considered.
