Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time. Kiwanis also seeks to encourage young people to reach out to the wider community and provide volunteer service.
Three $1,000 Moline Kiwanis Club scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors from Moline High School or Alleman High School through the Moline Kiwanis Club Scholarship Fund for the upcoming school year. These scholarships are funded by the Moline Kiwanis Club. The scholarship awards are based on the following: student statement, staff recommendations, demonstrated leadership ability, school activities, scholastic ability and out-of-school activities/volunteerism.
These scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors who will attend a community college, university, or technical school. A completed application includes completion of all required information on the application form, seventh semester transcripts (including complete list of courses and grades received, rank in class, and grade point average).
Scholarship candidates must:
- be a graduating senior of Moline High School or Alleman High School living within the boundaries of Moline-Coal Valley, Illinois School District No. 40.
- have maintained and provide proof of a cumulative grade point average (2.5 out of 4.0) during the first seven (7) semesters of high school.
- provide proof of class rank and a transcript of seventh semester courses.
- have been involved in at least one service-oriented activity or organization in his or her school, community, or place of worship.
- enroll on a full-time basis in an accredited college, university or technical school. (carrying at least 12 semester hours).
- submit two letters of reference, (one personal non-family member reference and one from the school staff, faculty member, or counselor).
