MOLINE, ILLINOIS (August 22, 2019) — Over the past 16 years, Midwest Hope and Healing has offered support and comfort to over 3,800 breast-cancer patients through the distribution of their signature healing baskets. Generous donors made this possible by contributing funds to Midwest Hope and Healing, which allowed for the healing baskets to be distributed at no cost for the newly-diagnosed.

Midwest Hope and Healing is continuing their legacy of care by now offering grants through The Moline Foundation to support local non-profits and faith-based organizations, which help cancer survivors. One of the recent grant recipients was the “Art-To-Go” project of Living Proof Exhibit which provides coloring books, puzzles, and other simple art projects that people undergoing cancer treatment can take with them whenever and wherever they need the healing power of the arts.

Pamela Crouch, Living Proof Exhibit Executive Director commented, “We are grateful to receive funding from Midwest Hope and Healing. These funds will be used to create Art-to-Go boxes for cancer patients and their families. When you are being treated for cancer, stress hits at all hours of the day. These Art-to-Go boxes will enable people to use the arts to reduce that stress, no matter when it happens. The art projects are also something that patients can use with their families. Gathering around a table and painting, working on a jigsaw puzzle, or coloring provides an opportunity for patients to connect with loved ones and create something beautiful together. Several board members and I received cancer care baskets from Midwest Hope and Healing when we were going through our cancer treatments. This grant allows us to repay that kindness.”

Other organizations that also received funding this year include Living Proof Exhibit, Live STRONG YMCA, and Trinity Health Foundation.
