MOLINE, ILLINOIS (June 19, 2025) — Visit Quad Cities is proud to announce that the Hemmings Great Race presented by Coker Tire will roll into John Deere Commons in downtown Moline on Sunday, June 22, 2025, as part of its cross-country journey. The world-renowned antique car rally will bring 120 vintage vehicles from around the globe, with the Moline stop beginning at 4:45PM and is open to the public.
This high-profile event spans nine days, more than 2,300 miles, and seventeen cities, showcasing cars built in 1974 or earlier. Drivers and navigators will compete for a $160,000 purse, including a $50,000 grand prize, in a challenging time/speed/distance rally. Spectators can expect a street festival atmosphere, with the opportunity to meet drivers, get up close to rare antique automobiles, and experience a once-in-a-lifetime moment in the heart of the Quad Cities.
“We are thrilled to welcome our guests from The Great Race as they make their way across the United States to their final destination,” said Dave Herrell, President and CEO, Visit Quad Cities. “The Great Race personifies the American spirit and having these amazing vintage automobiles, their drivers, and support crew in downtown Moline is a privilege. We strongly encourage Quad Citizens of all ages to come out on Sunday afternoon and officially welcome them to our community.”
“We are beyond excited to welcome The Great Race to our vibrant downtown Moline,” said Mayor Sangeetha Rayapati.
“This event is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the energy, hospitality, and pride of our city. Hosting these remarkable vehicles and their passionate teams is an honor, and we invite the entire community to come experience the spirit of celebration that defines Moline.”
Each stop on the Great Race is free and family-friendly, with many participants inviting kids to sit in the cars. According to Jeff Stumb, Great Race Director, “When the Great Race pulls into a city, it becomes an instant festival,” attracting thousands of fans. In 2024, the event drew over 250,000 spectators across its route.
The 2025 race will kick off on June 21 in St Paul, Minnesota, during the MSRA Back to the 50s Weekend and finish on June 29 in Irmo, South Carolina. Vehicles and teams from Japan, England, Australia, Canada, and across the US will participate, with some of the oldest entries dating back to 1913.
