About SURE
SURE has been a hallmark of the Carthage experience since the mid-1990s. SURE started in the natural sciences, and has now grown to include all academic divisions at Carthage. Each summer between 25 and 50 students are chosen to participate.
Students selected to participate in SURE spend 10 weeks on campus doing research full time (40 hours per week) with a faculty mentor. Students receive a stipend, on-campus housing, a meal plan, and a small research budget.
All SURE students and faculty mentors meet weekly for lunch, during which students present their progress. At the end of the program, students are required to write a project report and display their findings at a poster session for the Carthage community.
Carthage College combines an environment of reflection and self-discovery with a culture of high expectation so our students uncover and ignite their true potential. A four-year, private liberal arts college with roots in the Lutheran tradition, Carthage has a prime location in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The campus, an 80-acre arboretum on the shore of Lake Michigan, is home to 150 scholars, 2,600 full-time students, and 400 part-time students.
