WHO: Local educators will be among more than 150 superintendents and educational leaders at the Iowa Capitol Wednesday, rallying behind their request for Iowa legislators to attend to the needs of the state’s students.

·   WHY:  Local districts scheduled to have representatives in attendance in a joint advocacy day for public education include Andrew, Bellevue, Central DeWitt, Clinton, Columbus, Easton Valley, Louisa-Muscatine, Northeast, North Scott, Pleasant Valley, and West Liberty. These educators will be discussing issues that impact local schools including:

o    Support for the removal of the SAVE sunset,

o   An increase in Supplemental State Aid,

o   Removal of the sunset for operational sharing incentives,

o   Needs to support mental health-related issues, and

o   Legislation that addresses the inequities oftransportation per-pupil costs.

·  WHERE: Educators from all over the state will convene in and around room 116 in the State Capitol from 7:30-9 a.m. on Wednesday, January 31.
