MWC is thrilled to offer a playwriting workshop series this fall, presented by Chris Jansen, founding Artistic Director of New Ground Theatre in Davenport. This workshop will pick up where Jansen’s last workshop at MWC left off in February 2016.

The series will meeting each Tuesday in September and the first Tuesday in October from 5:45 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at the Midwest Writing Center on the ground floor of the Rock Island Public Library Main Branch. Here’s a complete description: “This class will explore basic playwriting. The first class will be a format primer for those who have never written a play before. In the other four classes we will play with dialogue, situation, conflict, humor, and write a series of short plays. If desired, class members will be able to present their favorite class-written piece for an invited audience at the Village Theatre.” Thanks to the support of the Riverboat Development Authority, MWC is able to offer this workshop free to college/graduate students. Registration for non-students is $50 for MWC members, $75 for non-members. Please contact Ryan Collins at MWC, 309-732-7330 // mwc@midwestwritingcenter.org, for more information about this workshop, or to register over the phone.
