LeCLAIRE, IOWA (October 18, 2023) — The LeClaire library is happy to announce a new recurring program to be held at the library: Senior Activities and Socializing, featuring refreshments, good conversation, and guest speakers on a variety of topics. This new group comes courtesy of new LeClaire resident Donna Andruch. Below is an introduction from Andruch herself.

“I am new to the Quad City area, after moving to LeClaire from eastern Illinois. Since relocating here, I’ve been looking for activities to be involved with to meet other retired seniors. In my former area, I was involved with university extension-office programs and gardening clubs and recently read that the Bettendorf Library has a senior group that meets monthly for ‘socializing and optional activities.’  Noticing that the LeClaire library didn’t have a group like this, I reached out about starting one. Melita Tunnicliff, the library director, was very receptive to my suggestion of starting a similar group, and she and Callen DeWit, the circulation manager, helped get the group started. We had our first ‘Senior Activities and Socializing’ get-together this week, and we will continue meeting on the second Tuesday of every month, 10-11:30AM. We will discuss future activities and special guest speakers.

Our next meeting is Tuesday, November 14, in the LeClaire Library Community Room. Hope to meet some new people!”
