From Pre-K, K-12 to Higher Education, Fred Highlights Vision to Expand Access to Lifelong Educational Opportunities for All Iowans

Fred Hubbell: Let’s Provide Job Training In All High Schools And Community Colleges To Pair Students With The Jobs That Businesses Need.’

Today, Fred Hubbell, Democratic candidate for governor, is releasing a new television ad, “Invest In The Future,” touting his priority to invest in Iowa’s education system. From pre-K, K-12 to higher education and job training, investing in education is vital to grow a strong economy.

As Governor Kim Reynolds and Republican leaders propose more draconian cuts to higher education and community colleges and continue to severely underfund K-12 schools, Fred outlines the dangers this path bears for the future of Iowa, stating that in five years “people won’t want to live here because they can’t get good jobs.” As an Iowa business leader and former head of the Department of Economic Development, Fred has seen firsthand how a world-class public education system and investment in job training  can spur economic growth and get incomes rising -- but over the last few years, Iowa has refused to properly invest in its own future. Calling these cuts “unacceptable,” Fred illustrates his vision to restore and expand educational opportunities in every community. From fully funding pre-K and expanding support for K-12 and higher education, to partnering with local businesses to establish apprenticeship and job training programs to train for the jobs local businesses need, as governor Fred will prioritize education at every level to grow Iowa’s economy from the ground up.

The 30-second television ad, “Invest In The Future,” will begin airing Tuesday as part of a statewide buy.
