Sprout Champions Crowned in Iowa State Fair Talent Search

DES MOINES, IA (08/17/2017) (readMedia)-- Three talented Sprout division acts (ages 2-12) have been selected to perform in the Championship round in Bill Riley's 58th annual Iowa State Fair Talent Search. Each act will perform in exhibition on Sunday, August 20, but will no longer be competing.

The names, ages, hometowns and routines of the acts are:

Samuel Fine, 11, Windsor Heights, IA, Dance: Ballet

Mackenzie Crawford, 11, Sioux City, IA, Vocal

Trinity Brincks, 12, Fredericksburg, IA, Dance: Tap

Bill Riley, Jr. is once again hosting the competition. Sprout acts will be crowned champions every day of the semi-finals. The six winning acts will perform in the talent-packed championship set for Sunday, August 20, at 1:30 p.m. on the Anne and Bill Riley Stage sponsored by Pepsi with media sponsor CW Iowa 23.

Each of the six Sprout Champions will receive a prize of $250 after the Championship Show. More than $17,000 will be awarded to the Senior and Sprout divisions combined. This year's contest is sponsored by Hy-Vee.

Three Senior Acts Advance to Iowa State Fair Talent Search Championship

DES MOINES, IA (08/17/2017) (readMedia)-- Three talented Senior division acts (ages 13-21) have advanced to the Championship round in Bill Riley's 58th annual Iowa State Fair Talent Search. Each act will perform again on Sunday, August 20.

The names, ages, hometowns and routines are:

Libby Peterson, 20, Cherokee, IA, Musical Theater

Ridge McGinley, 18, Pella, IA, Dance: Lyrical

Katelynn Paulsen, 20, West Des Moines, IA, Dance: Lyrical

The championship round will take place on Sunday, August 20 at 1:30 p.m. on the Anne and Bill Riley Stage sponsored by Pepsi with media sponsor CW Iowa 23. Bill Riley, Jr. is once again hosting the show.

The first-place winner will receive a prize of $8,000. The second and third-place winners will be awarded $4,000 and $2,000, respectively. More than $17,000 will be awarded to the Senior and Sprout divisions combined. This year's contest is sponsored by Hy-Vee.

Quarter Horses Win Big at Iowa State Fair Competition

DES MOINES, IA (08/17/2017) (readMedia)-- Winners in more than 90 classes of competition were named on Saturday and Sunday in the 2017 Iowa State Fair Quarter Horse Show.

The Iowa State Fair Quarter Horse Show was a double-judged show. In such a show, the use of two judges, independent of one another, takes place. Thus, two sets of results are produced with two full sets of American Quarter Horse Association points being awarded.
