Rock Island Libraries distributed nearly 900 pairs of glasses to our customers in late July and early August. ALL of those glasses are now gone.

The situation is the same at all other local libraries who had free glasses to distribute.

The local media is monitoring the supply of glasses closely. Please know that there are indirect methods to safely view a solar eclipse, such as building a box projector or a pinhole viewer.  You can also stream NASA's live feed and download a free app. Try these two links for helpful information:

Help Keep the Reader Alive and Free Since '93!

"We're the River Cities' Reader, and we've kept the Quad Cities' only independently owned newspaper alive and free since 1993.

So please help the Reader keep going with your one-time, monthly, or annual support. With your financial support the Reader can continue providing uncensored, non-scripted, and independent journalism alongside the Quad Cities' area's most comprehensive cultural coverage." - Todd McGreevy, Publisher
