DAVENPORT, IOWA (August 11, 2021) — One Human Family Quad Cities will be hosting an event at the Davenport Public Library, Eastern Avenue branch with local author and educator, Adrienne C Graham. This event will begin with the author reading her book, The Color of Friendship, followed by discussions and an activity. This event will be held on Saturday, August 14, 10AM. The event is free and open to the public.

Local author Adrienne C Graham is a first-grade teacher at Lincoln School in MacComb, Illinois. She wrote the book, The Color of Friendship, based on her experience of growing up in an environment where she looked different from others. She is happy to share her story with children of all ages as a way to learn about cultural diversity. The three events take the ideas that are woven into the story as a starting point for discussions and activities. Participants will learn about embracing and celebrating the companionship of friends no matter what they look like. Discussions will include sharing ways parents and children can talk about race and recognizing the importance of hard work and perseverance to accomplish goals. In addition, information and resources will be provided for parents.

The Color of Friendship and Adrienne’s latest book, Little Sisters are a BIG Deal, are both are available on Amazon.  Anyone who would like a signed copy can contact Adrienne at grahambooks2020@gmail.com.

One of the mottos of One Human Family Quad Cities is “All are welcome.” Children of all ages, parents, grandparents, and all adults are invited to attend these events in the spirit of inclusion.
