Rock Island, IL: Develop your child's early learning skills in an artful way with the new Petite Picassos learning series from Rock Island Public Library.

Petite Picassos joins the library's monthly line up of programs for ages five and under. Each Petite Picassos program includes a story and an art activity, allowing children to use all of their senses. Hands-on (and sometimes messy projects) help young  children develop cognitive, social, and sensory-motor skills.

The first Petite Picassos program is at 10:30 am on Tuesday, Sept. 12 at the Rock Island 30/31 Library, 3059 30th Street. Additional Petite Picasso programs are also offered at 10:30 am on Wednesday, Sept. 20 at the Southwest Library, 9010 Ridgewood Road, and on Friday, Sept 29 at the Downtown Library, 401 19th Street. The programs replace one Toddler Time storytime per month, per location. For October and November Petite Picasso dates, please visit www.rockislandlibrary.org.

With the addition of the Petite Picasso programming, the library's Toddler Tale storytimes will be offered twice at each location in September. Each 10:30 am storytime includes multiple stories, songs, and a craft designed around a different theme. Stories and crafts about puddles will be featured Wednesday, Sept. 13 at the Southwest Library and Friday, Sept. 15 at the Downtown Library. Stories and crafts about turtles are available Tuesday, Sept. 19 at 30/31 Library and Friday, Sept. 22 at Downtown. September wraps up with some pumpkin storytimes on Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 30/31 Library and Wednesday, Sept. 27 at Southwest Library.

Both the Petite Picasso and Toddler Tale programs are designed for the learning needs of children ages five and under. All are free, and do not require registration.
