ST PAUL, MINNEAPOLIS (January 29, 2019) — As the midwest faces record-breaking cold, food delivery is really heating up!

According to Bite Squad, an on-demand restaurant delivery service, delivery orders in the midwest were up 12% yesterday over the previous Monday, which wasn't quite so frigid!

What are folks ordering to warm up? Anything with the word "hot" in it — think hot chicken sandwich or hot and sour soup — is up 21%. (And, no surprise, anything with the word "cold" in it--like cold cuts and cold noodles--is down 42%.)

Deliveries are up for:

  • Pad Thai — 64%
  • Soup — 63%
  • French Fries — 88%
  • Wings — 22%

Of course, soup delivery is hot on a cold day! The top 5 soups being ordered are:

  1. Miso Soup
  2. Chicken Wild Rice
  3. Wonton Soup
  4. Chicken Noodle Soup
  5. Tom Yum Soup
