ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (September 7, 2021)  Halloween may have been a bust last year, so Quad City Haunts and History Tours has returned early to start the haunting season off right.

You can take two walking ghost tours this year in downtown Rock Island — Haunted Rock Island is going on now, and Gangsters and Ghosts will return in October.

“A lot of Halloween fans were disappointed that we couldn’t celebrate our favorite season the way we always did. So we decided we’d bring our tours back early,” says QC Haunts and History owner and guide Minda Powers-Douglas. “This year, our tours have been revamped, we have some great new guides, and a lot of great ghost stories to tell. People won’t be disappointed.”

The guides

Half of the tour guides are also paranormal investigators with years of experience. Tony Salazar is the head of S&S Paranormal Investigations, and Amy Morgan has investigated with different groups over the years.

The QCHH group also includes two very talented mediums.

Tarot readings and connected with the dead

New this year are optional tarot card readings and a medium who will be joining some of the tours.

“Upon request, Ryan Sumpter will be available before our tours to give mini tarot readings. He’s the best reader I’ve known,” said Powers-Douglas. “He puts the folks on TV to shame. Ryan is the real deal.”

“Linda Roelens, who is also with the paranormal team ParaGEM, is an amazing medium. She sees and speaks to dead people. Her abilities allow her to connect with spirits on a level most of us can’t. We are thrilled to have her joining us on some of our tours.”

Tours are running now

Step into Rock Island’s past as it comes to life during two different tours starting now. Tours will run into November, pending weather.

• Haunted Rock Island tour — Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays (private tours may be any night)

• Gangsters and Ghosts tour — returning in October

Tours last approximately ninety minutes and are on a flat route of just over one mile. Tickets for regular tours are $20 per person and must be purchased in advance at qchaunts.com. Sales end at 5PM on the day of the tour. Reserve your spot now at www.qchaunts.com

Private tours

Private tours are available for booking any day/night of the week. Private tours are $25 per person with a minimum of four participants. Contact qchaunts@gmail.com for details and to reserve.

Safety

To make sure the QC Haunts walking tours remain safe, they ask that participants maintain a six-foot distance between parties during the story stops and that those who haven’t been vaccinated yet wear masks. At this point, as the tours are outside, masks for vaccinated guests are optional.

Coming in October

On October 23, QC Haunts and History will also be leading a paranormal investigation at the historic Hauberg Estate in Rock Island. Special note: They’ll be the first group to have access to the carriage house for an investigation.
