BETTENDORF, IOWA (July 13, 2025) — In response to the severe weather events and the resulting emergency declaration in Scott County, the Quad Cities Community Foundation activated its Quad Cities Disaster Recovery Fund on Friday, July 11, in order to support response and recovery needs in the region.
Donations to the fund are now being accepted at QCCommunityFoundation.org.
Damage from flooding, high winds, and possible tornado activity is still being assessed by the Scott County Emergency Management Agency. Early reports point to significant unmet needs, especially for vulnerable populations.
The Community Foundation is working in coordination with local partners — including the Scott County Emergency Management Commission, Disaster Ready Quad Cities, the Salvation Army, and the American Red Cross — to ensure a collaborative, long-term recovery strategy.
“The Disaster Recovery Fund exists for moments like this,” said Sue Hafkemeyer, the Community Foundation’s president and CEO. “We know the needs won’t end when the waters recede. This fund allows us to move quickly and thoughtfully to support the organizations that will be walking alongside our community in the weeks and months ahead.”
The Community Foundation will begin awarding grants from the Disaster Recovery Fund to non-profit partners addressing long-term recovery. Additional grants may be made as needs and opportunities are identified.
Prior to this event, the Community Foundation worked alongside community leaders, donors, and non-profits in the community to identify where resources would be needed most, should a disaster strike. Contributions to the fund will be used in keeping with the needs identified through Disaster Ready QC.
Thanks to the generosity of donors across the region, the Quad Cities Disaster Recovery Fund is a vital resource that ensures non-profits have the financial support they need to help residents rebuild their lives.
