DAVENPORT, IOWA (July 22, 2024) — Quad Cities Interfaith (QCI) is proud to announce its second annual Fundraising Banquet titled "The Power and Beauty of Transformation” on Sunday, August 25, at the Rhythm City Casino. Guests are welcome to partake in a cocktail hour commencing at 5:30 PM, with the main program beginning at 6:30PM. Please visit qcinterfaith.org to purchase tickets. Spanish translation will be available.

QCI has a long track record of being at the frontlines fighting injustice. QCI’s current campaigns for housing justice and immigration justice carry on our social justice tradition: QCI’s Quad Cities Tenant Alliance has launched a campaign to pass a Rent Abatement Ordinance to prevent tenant displacement due to substandard building conditions; additionally, our ambitious campaign for the creation of a Davenport Community ID would allow immigrants, survivors of domestic violence, formerly incarcerated people, and people experiencing homelessness to more easily access basic identification.

QCI’s program includes a live butterfly encounter, raffle, and a meal. Additionally, the banquet will feature Suzanne and Dr Arthur Pitz, authors of How to Change the World Two Feet at a Time–Lessons from the Life of Fr Marvin Mottet. A founder of QCI, Fr Mottet taught that charity must be accompanied by justice. While charity treats the symptoms of injustice, justice work seeks to dismantle the root causes of oppression.

Finally, we will honor the recipient for our Marvin Mottet Leadership Award is Pastor Rich Hendricks of Metropolitan Community Church of the Quad Cities. As co-founder of One Human Family and QC PRIDE, Pastor Hendrick has devoted more than twenty years to the pursuit of social justice. This year’s awardee of the QCI Community Leadership and Justice Award is Dennis Platt, a community leader who has demonstrated outstanding dedication to social justice by building the Quad Cities Tenant Alliance.

Join QCI in this monumental evening, celebrating achievements, forging connections, and highlighting the heroes among us. Your presence will be a testament to the continued commitment towards building a more inclusive and just society.
