ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (April 18, 2019) — Quad City Arts will host its 3rd annual Chalk Art FEST with a NEW location this year in the heart of downtown Bettendorf. This free 2-day street painting festival will take place June 8th and 9th at Ascentra Credit Union’s NEW headquarters, on State Street between 20th and 21st street in Bettendorf, Iowa. Part of BE DOWNTOWN — a celebration of art, music and community, this free, family-friendly event will also feature live outdoor music, craft beer tastings, food vendors, a K&K Family Fun Zone with bounce houses, a dunk-tank & other fun activities throughout the event!
Artists will compete once again for over $1,500 in cash prizes, as they transform the plain-cement pavement of Ascentra Credit Union’s new parking-lot into magnificent works of art. Cash-prizes awarded include a NEW youth-category award and people’s-choice award! New this year, the youth award gives students age 12-17, the opportunity to compete for a $100 cash-prize AND $200 in art-supplies that will go to the art-department of their respective school. Artists may register as an individual or as a team of up to 4 people. This is a great way to showcase school-spirit.

1st Place — $500
2nd Place — $300
3rd Place — $250
People’s Choice Award — $250
2 Honorable Mentions — $100 each
Youth Award — $100 + $200 in art supplies awarded to artists’ school.
COMMUNITY PIECE
The community can also participate in creating some chalk art, by taking part in a collaborative community-piece, where for a $5 donation, participants are given a set of pastel-chalk to create a smaller square-portion of a larger image. When finished, the larger-image will come to life as a complete work of art!
REGISTRATION
Registration for the Chalk Art FEST is FREE to all artists, and includes a 48-ct box of pastels, lunch-vouchers for both days and a free t-shirt. Judging will take place at 2pm on Sunday, June 9, and awards will be presented at a formal check-ceremony on Sunday at 3PM. Deadline for registration is May 24.
