DES MOINES, IOWA (October 12, 2023) — Representative Gary Mohr (R-Bettendorf), Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, issued the following statement regarding the Revenue Estimating Conference's October projections:

"Today's meeting confirmed that Iowa remains on solid financial ground," Rep Mohr said. "Thanks to Iowa House Republicans' responsible budgeting practices and tax policy, the State of Iowa is in a far better position to handle any economic downturns thanks to Bidenomics than states such as Illinois.

“While the Iowa economy is strong, we are still facing challenges. Inflation has Iowans struggling. Hardworking Iowans' paychecks aren't stretching as far as they used to. We need to get more money back into the pockets of Iowans by continuing to lower the tax burden on Iowans in a responsible manner."
