BETTENDORF, IOWA (March 31, 2026) — National History Day (NHD) has announced the educators selected for its new national webinar series, Revolutionary Ideals: Understanding 250 Years of American Principles; and Rivermont Collegiate is proud to share that Leigh Ann Schroeder is among those chosen.

Schroeder is one of only three educators from Iowa selected to participate in the program.

Schroeder serves as PS–12 Curriculum Coordinator, sixth–through-twelfth-grade Social Studies teacher, and Senior Master at Rivermont. She is also a National Constitution Center Constitution Fellow and a Fulbright Scholar, bringing extensive experience in both historical scholarship and classroom instruction to the national initiative.

The Revolutionary Ideals webinar series prepares educators to explore the origins and evolution of American principles in anticipation of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. The program will run from April 2026 through March 2027 and includes online learning modules, academic and pedagogical tasks, curated primary and secondary sources, and live webinars with leading historians.

Schroeder’s role in the program extends beyond participation. She will provide feedback on course content while actively integrating the materials into her classroom instruction during the current school year and the next, allowing students to engage directly with emerging national-curriculum resources. Students will also play a role by evaluating the course materials alongside their teacher.

“The work mirrors what I previously did with the National Constitution Center’s Constitution 101 curriculum,” Schroeder said.

“I’m excited to not only contribute educator feedback but to use these materials with my own students as we explore how revolutionary ideals have been interpreted and redefined over time.”

Her selection demonstrates Rivermont Collegiate’s dedication to challenging history, education, and meaningful civic engagement. By participating in this national program, Schroeder brings innovative historical scholarship and instructional techniques directly into the classroom, enhancing students' learning experience across various grade levels.
