Rock Island, IL: Beginning at noon April 6, the Rock Island Public Library 30/31 Branch will be closed for electrical service repairs.

A recent power surge revealed a wiring issue. The Library Board opted to close the branch temporarily to allow electricians to properly evaluate the severity of the issue, and fix what is necessary without interruption. Repairs could take up to a week or longer, depending on the severity of issues found.

The Library and electricians are working hard to fix the issue as quickly as possible. Library staff will check the 30/31 book return while the branch is closed. To reduce the amount of material in the drop box, patrons are urged to return library materials to either the Main Library, 401 19th Street, or Southwest Branch Library, 9010 Ridgewood Road, while the 30/31 Branch is temporarily closed. Library. Patrons are also asked to hold material donations until the branch reopens.

Previously scheduled events at the 30/31 branch will be moved to the Main Library as needed. Please check the library calendar for updates.
