
WHITEWATER, WISCONSIN (March 25, 2026) — Sarah Prigge from Port Byron, Illinois, who is studying Psychology — BS at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, is a peer mentor for the 2025-26 academic year.
Peer mentors serve as a resource to new students during their first semester at UW-Whitewater, leading them through the Warhawk Welcome, joining them in their New Student Seminar section, and checking in individually. Throughout the fall semester, peer mentors remain in contact with new students and help them feel at home on campus.
Working out of the First Year Experience office, peer mentors develop leadership, communication, and group facilitation skills through the program.
Transfer orientation leaders for the fall of 2025 included Katelyn Esser, Garrett Gebhardt, Ally Smith, and Brody Smith on the Whitewater campus, and Grace Quade and Lucas Riley on the Rock County campus.
Spring 2026 lead mentors, who assist with peer mentor selection and recruitment processes and training for fall 2026, include Olivia Gross, Alaina Jones, Kaitlyn Matecki, Quinn Moldenhauer, Halie Montalto, Rylan Pagel, Emma Rung, Shalomi Sahabandhu, and Josie Starin.
Students typically apply and interview for the position in the spring semester and begin the position in the fall. A limited number of peer mentors are hired to work in the spring semester.
