DAVENPORT, IOWA (March 27, 2023) — As the struggle to protect democracy continues to build throughout Iowa, Scott County Democrats have elected a new party chair and executive board.

"I’m proud to have such a strong and enthusiastic team to rebuild our local Scott County Democratic Party," Chair Kay Pence says. "We are actively recruiting volunteers to power our commitment to the Constitution of the United States which clearly states that Liberty and Justice are for All, and not just a select few."

The following Democrats have been elected to serve as executive board members with the Scott County Democrats.

Chair: Kay Pence

Pence is a lifelong resident of rural Scott County and a retired union staff representative. She is active in various community organizations and is also the Vice President of the Iowa Alliance of Retired Americans.

First Vice Chair: Susan Frembgen

Davenport resident Susan Frembgen has a rich history of activism and experience. She is pleased to bring her skills to serve and be part of a talented team.

Second Vice Chair: Sheri Carnahan

Carnahan is an active member of the Scott County Democratic Party and a longtime member of QC Federation of Labor. Carnahan lives in Davenport.

Third Vice Chair: Terry Olsen

Olsen is a retired transportation executive who lives in Bettendorf.

Affirmative Action Co-Chair: Phyllis Thede

Thede served seven terms in the Iowa House. She lives in Bettendorf. 

Recording Secretary: Jean Semsch

Semsch is a retired nurse and hospice volunteer who lives in Liberty township.

Treasurer: Susan Stoefen 

A retired accountant, Stoefen is co-owner of a small farm operation in rural New Liberty.

Corresponding Secretary: Sharon Kendall-Dunn

Kendall-Dunn is a community volunteer who resides in Davenport.
