SCOTT COUNTY, IOWA (May 28, 2026) — On Thursday May 28, at approximately 6:37PM, the Scott Emergency Communications Center received a report of a collision involving a pick-up truck and a bicyclist.

The Scott County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene where the initial investigation found that the bicyclist was west bound on State Street approaching Valley Drive. The pick-up truck was east-bound on State and was attempting to turn left to go north on Valley Drive. The driver of the pick-up truck failed to yield, and the bicyclist collided with the passenger rear of the truck.

The bicyclist was transported by Medic EMS to Mercy One Genesis Hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the pick-up truck was uninjured.

The investigation is on-going and charges are pending. Names are being withheld until the completion of the investigation.

The Scott County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by SECC, Bettendorf Police Department, Medic EMS, and Riverdale Fire Department.
