WASHINGTON DC (November 13, 2019) — Prepared floor remarks by Senator Charles "Chuck" Grassley, Co-Chair of the Senate Caucus on Foster Youth on National Adoption Month:

November is National Adoption Month.

This year, there is good news.

In 2018, over 63 thousand youth were adopted from foster care, an increase of four thousand from the previous year.

However, the number of children waiting for adoption also increased, rising to over 125,000.

Unfortunately, teenagers, sibling groups and those with medical challenges often wait much longer to be adopted.

Every child deserves a safe, permanent and loving home and I commend all those who have chosen to adopt children in foster care.
