WASHINGTON DC (December 9, 2019) — Prepared Floor Remarks by Senator Charles "Chuck" Grassley, Chairman, Senate Finance Committee:

Senator [Ron] Wyden and I released an updated version of our bipartisan Prescription Drug Pricing Reduction Act.

It will now deliver even more savings for seniors and Americans with disabilities.

It also helps pay for critical health programs.

Billions of dollars saved in out-of-pocket costs.

And billions of dollars allocated for health-care programs that tens of millions of Americans rely upon.

All without spending a dime more of tax-payer dollars.

That’s because Big Pharma will finally be held accountable.

Taxpayers shouldn’t be put on the hook for unlimited subsidies to big companies making billions in profits.

The Washington Post recently said our bill was the “drug-pricing bill with the best chance of passing Congress.”

That’s because it’s the only significant, bipartisan legislation to address the skyrocketing cost of prescription drugs in Congress.

The Senate must demonstrate courage and finally act.

It should get a vote soon.
