Rock Island, IL: The Rock Island Library has started a new program for makers with SEW Much Fun sessions on the third Wednesday of each month.

Registration begins January 26 for the February 15 SEW Much Fun session, where participants will make fabric coasters. The make and take program starts at 6:00 pm in the Main Library Community Room, 401 19th Street. The free SEW Much Fun sessions are intended for adults, and all supplies are provided.

Each month features a simple, make-it -yourself sewing or fabric project. "These are not sewing classes, although you may learn something from other makers in the process of creating your project," notes Amy Sisul, the library's Adult Services director.

Other programs in the SEW Much Fun series include a lip balm keychain holder on March 15 and a book bag project on April 19. Registration is required for each session.

The programs were made possible by a grant for sewing machines and other supplies from the Rock Island Public Library Foundation.
