DAVENPORT, IA – September 2018 –Gilda’s Club is hosting a FREE workshop for anyone impacted by cancer titled Skin Cancer and Prevention on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at Gilda’s Club (1234 East River Drive, Davenport, IA).

Skin cancer is the most common type of cancer in Iowa. Anyone can get skin cancer, but most cases can be prevented by practicing sun safety and avoiding tanning beds and devices. Carissa L. Pardekooper, PA-C of Soderstrom Skin Institute will discuss:

  • Facts about skin cancer
  • Common indicators of skin cancer
  • Risks for skin cancer
  • How to best protect yourself in the sun
  • Monthly self-skin exams
  • Ingredients to look for in sun screen
