Skip-a-Long Child Development Services believes all children can reach their full potential when given the chance to learn and grow with high quality early care and education. In collaboration with Child Abuse Council of the Quad Cities, four Skip-a-Long centers will “plant” blue pinwheel gardens to recognize early childhood educators’ roles in making sure children have safe, happy childhoods.
April 24th – April 28th is a week celebrated by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) as Week of the Young Child. April is also nationally recognized as Child Abuse Prevention Month, a time for the community to come together to show its support for children and families. Skip-a-Long will hold pinwheel garden ceremonies at four selected center locations during Week of the Young Child to both celebrate children and bring awareness to Child Abuse Prevention Month. Each center will host its own ceremony, with preschool children planting pinwheels in designated areas around the center. There will be opportunities to speak with center staff, agency leaders, and photos and video of children “planting” the pinwheels are welcomed.
All ceremonies begin at 9:00am
