ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (September 8, 2025) — Korgossarna, the Swedish academic men’s choir from Uppsala University, Sweden, will perform on Saturday, September 20, 3PM, in Wallenberg Hall at Augustana College.

Korgossarna is one of Sweden’s premier male vocal ensembles, known for singing music of the Nordic vocal tradition from folk tunes to contemporary.

The concert is free and open to the public.

The concert is part of the choir’s four-stop tour of the United States and will be conducted by Rebecka Gustaffson. The concert will culminate with a joint performance with the Augustana Choir.

“We are excited to be hosting and working with the Korgossarna Choir,” said Dr Jon Hurty, director of choral activities at Augustana. “It is a special opportunity for us — especially since the Augustana Choir will be singing in Sweden in June of 2026. This collaboration will provide a great connection between our musical communities.”

Augustana College was founded in 1860 by Swedish graduates of the universities of Uppsala and Lund. The college continues to honor its Swedish roots in many ways — from the annual Celebration of the Festival of Sankta Lucia, to the Ander Lecture Series featuring scholars of Swedish-American studies, hosted on campus by the Swenson Center.

Established in 1931, the Augustana Choir has been conducted by Dr Hurty since 1996. Under his direction, the choir has performed at Orchestra Hall in Chicago, Alice Tully Hall, and Carnegie Hall in New York City, as well as many major cathedrals and concert venues in more than 11 countries.

When the Augustana Choir tours Scandinavia in June 2026, its final performance will be in Uppsala Cathedral in Uppsala, Sweden.
