DES MOINES, IOWA (November 17, 2022) — Auditor of State Rob Sand today released a report on the State University of Iowa (University of Iowa), Iowa City, Iowa for the year ended June 30, 2021. The University of Iowa previously released its annual financial report for the year ended June 30, 2021.

The University of Iowa is governed by the Board of Regents. For the year ended June 30, 2021, the full-time equivalent student enrollment was 28,558, with an average cost-per-student of $21,015, compared to 29,372 students and an average cost-per-student of $20,548 for the year ended June 30, 2020. The University Hospitals and Clinics provided a total of 242,276 patient days at an average daily cost-per-patient of $8,112 for the year ended June 30, 2021, compared to 233,700 patient days at an average daily cost-per-patient of $7,609 for the year ended June 30, 2020.

AUDIT FINDINGS: Consistent with the prior year, Sand reported no findings related to the receipt and expenditure of tax-payer funds. A copy of the report is available for review on the Auditor of State’s web site at Audit Reports | Iowa State Auditor.
