AMANA, Iowa- If you love to eat and drink the Amana Colonies have the perfect event for you. This April the Colonies will present “Take a Bite: A Three Day Food Festival” from April 20th through April 22nd.

The Amana Colonies, long known for their great food, wine and beer, will be celebrating both traditional Amana foods and more international foods.  Take a Bite will reach all types of “foodies” with educational seminars, hands on cooking classes and demonstrations, special foods to be sampled, and special dinners to enjoy.

There will be seminars on cheese and wine pairings, the difference in beer styles, along with hands on demonstrations that include pretzel, cream puff, and sauerkraut making.  Dinners include a special “colony meal” served in the only surviving Communal Kitchen, along with 5 course meals that pair beer or wine with each course.  The special themed dinners are very popular and advance ticket purchasing is required.

Each day will feature a “Sample Strolls” which take you from shop to shop sampling different foods.  You can eat your way across Amana.

It is fun for all types of “Foodies” with activities taking place at various locations in the Amana Colonies and plenty of samples.

Each of the 3 days will offer new and different activities to participate, learn, and indulge in.  Don’t miss out of all the excitement and remember to bring your appetite!
