EAST MOLINE, ILLINOIS (June 17, 2026) — Out of an abundance of caution due to today's inclement and severe weather, the American Red Cross of the Quad Cities and Northwest Illinois has been canceled A Taste on the River, originally scheduled for this evening, Wednesday, June 17, at the Bend XPO in East Moline.
While we are disappointed to cancel this beloved event, the safety of our guests, volunteers, chefs, sponsors, vendors, and community partners remains our highest priority.
This decision also comes as Red Cross volunteers continue responding to the devastating impact of last week's severe storms across the region. Over the past several days, volunteers have been providing shelter, meals, emergency supplies, health, and mental-health support, and comfort to families whose lives have been turned upside down. With another round of severe weather impacting our communities today, our teams remain fully engaged and prepared to respond wherever help is needed.
"We are incredibly grateful for the understanding of our guests, sponsors, chefs, volunteers, and community partners," said Trish Burnett, Executive Director of the American Red Cross of the Quad Cities and Northwest Illinois Chapter.
"While we are disappointed we cannot gather together this evening, our mission calls us to be there for our neighbors during their greatest times of need. Today, that is exactly where our focus belongs."
Funds raised through A Taste on the River help the American Red Cross provide disaster relief, install free smoke alarms to help make homes safer, collect nearly 40% of the nation's blood supply, and support veterans, service members, and their families throughout the Quad Cities and Northwest Illinois.
The Red Cross encourages everyone to stay weather-aware by downloading the free Red Cross Emergency App, which provides real-time weather alerts, preparedness information in English and Spanish, and locations of available shelters and disaster services.
