MUSCATINE, IOWA (January 16, 2026) — Today, Taylor Wettach, Democratic Congressional candidate for Iowa’s First District, announced the launch of his Fair Shot for Iowa Tour to visit communities across all twenty counties of Iowa-01, listen directly to Iowans, and build the coalition needed to beat Mariannette Miller-Meeks in November.

The tour kicks off this weekend with stops in Muscatine, West Branch, Anamosa, and Maquoketa, followed next weekend by visits to Oskaloosa, Pleasantville, and Knoxville. Additional stops across the district will be announced in the coming weeks.

“For me, showing up isn’t optional — it’s the job,” said Taylor Wettach.

“Iowa was built on a simple idea: if you work hard, treat your neighbors with respect, and play by the rules, you should be able to build a good life. Folks don’t expect handouts, but they do expect a fair shot — and they expect the people they elect to actually represent them.”

The Fair Shot for Iowa Tour comes as families across Southeast Iowa face rising costs, shrinking access to quality and affordable health-care, tariff chaos and lost export markets for farmers, and a political system increasingly rigged by the super-wealthy and well-connected.

“Too many Iowans are working harder than ever, paying more for everything and falling behind,” Wettach continued.

“Seniors worry about retirement. Veterans struggle to get the care they earned. Farmers are squeezed by monopolies and Trump’s tariffs, and rural towns are hollowed out while big corporations ship profits out of state. And as Iowans struggle, the well-connected and powerful get tax breaks and special treatment to help them get richer. That’s not because Iowans are falling short — it’s because too many decisions in Washington are driven by money and power when people like Mariannette Miller-Meeks betray us to benefit their donors, billionaires, and corporations.”

Throughout the tour, Taylor will meet with workers, farmers, seniors, veterans, small-business-owners, students, and families to hear directly about the challenges they’re facing — and to share his vision for unrigging the economy, lowering costs, expanding access to quality and affordable health-care, strengthening our public schools, reinvesting in our farmers and rural communities, and restoring accountability in Washington.

“This campaign isn’t about left versus right,” said Wettach.

“It’s about fixing a system that’s being rigged by those at the very top against the rest of us. It’s about standing up to the establishment, corruption, and concentration of power, and standing with the people who keep Iowa running. I’m committed to going everywhere, listening first, and bringing Iowa values back to Washington so our voices can’t be bought, bullied, or forgotten.”
