MOUNT CARROLL, ILLINOIS (May 13, 2024) — Timber Lake Playhouse, the premier professional summer theatre of northwest Illinois, will celebrate TLPalooza featuring food, drink, music, tours of the theatre and games for the kids on Saturday, May 25, beginning at noon.

Timber Lake Playhouse, operating in its 63rd year, kicks off the season by inviting the community to the Playhouse for a Summer Kick-off Party. The party features the TLP Beer Garden, music, guided tours of the theatre and the back lot, food, and games for the kids.

The Beer Garden opens at noon and features popular beer and wine as well as craft beer from around the area. Food from the grill will also be available. Marques Morel, an American songwriter/story-teller, midwestern-twanger/folksinger, guitar-thumper/harmonica wailer, street-performer/wandering troubadour, steadfast woodcutter/migrant worker, a father, a son, and a friend to all, will be performing in the Beer Garden, 1-3PM.

Kids can enjoy games all afternoon at the giant dart-board, popping balloons for prizes, playing in the duck pond, jumping in the bounce house, and riding the barrel ride. All this and face painting are available for the price of a $10 wristband.

Stay for the evening and enjoy Jonny Lyons and the Pride in concert in the theatre. You’ll remember Jonny from last fall’s Elvis tribute at the Playhouse. The Pride combines influences of Rock and Roll, Country, Blues, Soul, Surf, and Rockabilly. Jonny Lyons celebrates a musical style that will take you on a journey back in time to the golden era of music and showmanship! Tickets are $30 ($25 for TLP Subscribers). After the concert, join TLP staff at the Beer Garden for a bonfire capping off the evening.

In other Playhouse events, there are still seats available for the May 18 concert featuring The Four C-Notes Marques Morel Recreating the Music of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, TLP is still casting Munchkins for The Wizard of Oz, and applications for high-school interns are being taken through May 28. The summer mainstage season begins on May 30 with the hilarious comedy, The Nerd, featuring the popular TLP actor Cody Jolly.
