MOLINE, IL – The Tin Woman by Sean Grennan opens at The Black Box Theatre on April 20th.

Based on a true story, The Tin Woman is the story of Joy, the recipient of the heart, unsure whether she deserves this extraordinary gift, as well as the donors parents Alice and Hank as they come to accept their son’s death.

Directed by Aaron Lord, the cast includes - Brant Peitersen as Hank (Davenport, IA) Nancy Teerlinck as Alice (Lynn Center, IL), Leslie Munson as Joy (Moline, IL), Joanna Mills as Sammy (Muscatine, IA), Andy Foster Sederquist as Jack (Sherrard, IL) and Jo Vasquez as Nurse/Darla (Davenport, IA).

“When I read the script I was touched by some of the similarities of feeling my family had as we waited for my step-dad’s heart transplant 17 years ago,” said Black Box co-founder Lora Adams. “The play is filled with pathos and drama and plenty of humor because life, even in trying circumstances, can be very funny.”

The production is also working with the Illinois Donor Network and providing information to audience members about organ donation.

The schedule for the The Tin Woman is condensed running April 20, 21, 22, 27, 28 and 29 at 7:30 pm and April 23 at 2:30pm. Tickets are $16. Reservations are available at theblackboxtheatre.com.
