MONMOUTH, ILLINOIS (September 11, 2025) — The fall semester at Monmouth College is now in full swing and the events calendar is heating up. The next few days will feature the first concert of the academic year, an update on the college by President Patricia Draves, and a wellness fair that will involve the entire campus.

The concert is part of Monmouth's annual Family Weekend, which will begin September 12. The main day of the celebration is September 13, with events leading up to the season's first home football game for the Fighting Scots. Kick-off against Lawrence University is 1PM in April Zorn Memorial Stadium.

The men's and women's soccer teams will also be in action that day, hosting Buena Vista in a doubleheader. Kick-off for the men's game is at 1:30PM at Peacock Memorial Athletic Park, with the women's game to follow at approximately 3:30PM.

In addition to events specific to Monmouth students and their families, an all-campus cookout and other attractions will be held from 11AM to 1PM on The Quad between the Huff Athletic Center and the Stockdale Center. Activities will include face painting, balloon artists, inflatables, bags, and lawn games.

In the evening, the Chorale, Chamber Choir and Wind Ensemble will present a short concert at 7:30PM in the Kasch Performance Hall of Dahl Chapel and Auditorium. A pre-concert dessert will be served at Dahl at 7PM.

Monmouth Associates

Now in her second year as Monmouth's fifteenth president, Draves will reflect on the successes of her first year and share her priorities for the year ahead at the opening Monmouth Associates luncheon of the academic year at noon September 18 in the Whiteman-McMillan Highlander Room of the Stockdale Center.

Family Weekend will be held September 12-13, and one of the main attractions will be a gathering in The Quad, 11AM-1PM, leading up to the Fighting Scots first home football game of the year

Her presentation is free, but there is a $15 charge per ticket to eat lunch at the event. Individuals attending the meal are asked to make reservations by September 16 at 309-457-2323 or at alumni@monmouthcollege.edu.

Parking is available in the Stockdale Center lot or along North Ninth Street during event time.

Wellness Fair

On September 17, the Office of Student Well-Being will host a campus-wide wellness fair, 4-7PM, that will focus on bringing together campus and community resources to support students in all things wellness.

"The Wellness Fair will showcase resources and activities that support the health and well-being of our students," said Megan McGruder, Monmouth's director of student well-being. "It will also include interactive activities, free giveaways, chances to win prizes and more — all while our students learn how to thrive as a Scot."

Constitution Day

Also on September 17, the college will host its annual Constitution Day talk. Attorney, director, and dramaturg Ashton Botts will blend her work in law and theatre to discuss "Living with a Living Constitution: How the Court's Interpretation Shapes our Rights." Free and open to the public, the talk will be given at 7PM in Room 276 of the Center for Science and Business.

The program celebrates Constitution Day and Citizenship Day, a federal day that commemorates the signing of the final draft of the Constitution in 1787 in Philadelphia. The nation's first Constitution Day was observed in 1952 to recognize the adoption of the Constitution and persons who have become US citizens.
