GAHC staff has been working hard to create interesting and educational content to share online with you while our doors are closed. On social media, we have been sharing weekly Power Frauen posts, daily German lessons, and more! We have included some of those posts for you here. Hearts Up at the GAHC

To help promote social distancing and to spread some cheer during these difficult and stressful times, the GAHC is participating in Heart Hunters. All over the world people are cutting out paper hearts and putting them in their windows. Read more about this project here.

Help us fill our windows! Mail us your hearts if you have some to share!

QC Local Virtual B-I-N-G-O

Quad Cities businesses could use our support now more than ever, and there are hundreds of ways Quad Citizens can show love to local businesses while practicing social distancing. That’s why the Quad Cities Chamber and Visit Quad Cities are teaming up with Tri-City Electric Co. to bring you the QC Local Challenge. We’ve created a bingo card filled with fun activities for you to safely support businesses – you guessed it – from a distance. Participants who complete a bingo card become a “Local Champion” and can enter to win one of four staycation prize packages that could include overnight stays at local hotels, food, beverages, spa services and much more! #QCLocalChallenge

COVID-19 Temporary Closure Updates

Dear friends,

The health and safety of our community and the German American Heritage Center volunteers, members, guests, and staff is our top priority. We are now following the Governor’s recommendation and will temporarily close our doors to the public through Thursday, April 30.

We undertake these efforts in hopes of slowing and reducing the impact of COVID-19. The recommendations and requirements for centers and museums like ours might change, so we may update or extend this plan at any time, including extending closure.

Our staff will periodically be on site during the closure and we are working to help share our museum online and create educational information and programs for you to utilize during this time.

While we are closed to the public, you can explore the GAHC through our website as well as on social media through Facebook and Instagram. We will continue to update you via our website, email, newsletters, and social media.

Please visit cdc.gov for more information on protecting yourself and your family during these difficult times.

Thank you for your support of the German American Heritage Center.

Sincerely,

Kelly Lao

Executive Director
