DIXON, IOWA (October 17, 2025) — On Saturday, October 25, 3PM, there will be a Great Pumpkin Atlatl Hunt held at the Wapsi River Environmental Education Center in Dixon, Iowa.

Join Naturalist Mike for a chance to hunt with an atlatl, a primitive hunting weapon originally used to hunt mastodon and bison.

Large target pumpkins and real pumpkins will be set out as targets.

Fun for the whole family and outdoor enthusiasts alike!

The Wapsi River Environmental Education Center can be found six miles south of Wheatland, or one mile northwest of Dixon, Iowa, by taking County Road Y4E, then turn north at 52nd Avenue and follow the signs for about one mile.
