DISON, IOWA (April 15, 2026) — On Saturday, April 25, 10:25AM, there will be a program onThe Life of a River: Mississippi, Source to Sea,” held at the Wapsi River Environmental Education Center in Dixon, Iowa.

On its 2,300-mile journey, the Mississippi River transforms from a sky-blue trickle of a creek to an earth-toned torrent, collecting water from 32 US states and two Canadian provinces before finally spilling into the sea.

In this program, assistant naturalist Brendan O’Brien will use his 2024 canoe trip down the length of the Mississippi to tell the story of the river, from its agreed-upon source at Lake Itasca, Minnesota to the Gulf of Mexico.
