ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (April 1, 2026) — YWCA Quad Cities is proud to announce it has officially opened its doors to Alan’s House, its new youth group home. On Wednesday, April 1, we will welcome our very first residents.
Alan’s House will serve youth ages ten through seventeen who have been removed from their families due to abuse, neglect, or other difficult circumstances. The home will be licensed to serve up to ten youths placed by the Illinois Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS) and four youth placed by the Illinois Department of Human Services (DHS). It will be the only youth group home in the area.
Due to licensing requirements, this is the max amount of youth we can take in for the first year. Our approach is to begin gradually, address any operational challenges, and expand capacity to serve more youth in the future.
The program will provide comprehensive wraparound services, including counseling, case management, life-skills groups, and educational and vocational support. Youth will be supervised 24/7 by licensed and trained staff.
All youth who stay at Alan’s House are referred through the state. Alan’s House cannot accept walk-ins.
In the Quad Cities alone, more than 2,000 youth experience homelessness each year. Unfortunately, foster homes have become sparse. Until now, there has been no dedicated group home for them in our region.
“Alan’s House represents hope, stability, and a fresh start for young people who have faced incredibly difficult circumstances. Every child deserves a safe place to call home, and we are honored to provide that space here in the Quad Cities,” said Julie Larson, President and CEO.
