Red, White, and Boom Fireworks Display July 3

DAVENPORT, IOWA (June 20, 2023) — The annual bi-state Red, White and Boom in downtown Davenport and Rock Island returns this year on July 3, 2022. Family-friendly activities will take place that evening in Davenport and Rock Island. At 9:30PM, fireworks will be shot, in sync to music broadcast on 97X, from two barges in the middle of the Mississippi River.

Historic Capitol Theater Announces Concert, Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony

DAVENPORT, IOWA (June 20, 2023) — Capitol Theatre, located at the heart of the historic 103-year-old Kahl Building in downtown Davenport, Iowa, has announced its first concert, alongside a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the reopening of one of the Midwest’s oldest art houses.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place on Wednesday, July 12, 3PM CST, as scheduled by the Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce.

Gov Kim Reynolds Announces $148 Million Broadband Grant Opportunity

DES MOINES, IOWA (June 19, 2023) — Governor Kim Reynolds and the Department of Management’s Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) have announced a new broadband grant opportunity for internet service providers. $148,960,000 is available through Empower Rural Iowa Broadband Grant Program with funding from the Capital Projects Fund (CPF) administered by the US Department of Treasury.

University of Iowa 2023 Spring Semester President's List Honorees Announced

IOWA CITY, IOWA (06/16/2023) — More than 1,100 undergraduate students at the University of Iowa were named to the President's List for the 2023 spring semester.

President's-List status was earned by only 93 first-year undergraduates during the 2023 spring semester at Iowa; only 249 second-year students; only 294 third-year students; and only 539 fourth-year students.

The president's list was established in the fall of 1983 to recognize academic excellence.
