2019 Iowa State Fair People's Choice Best New Food Announced

DES MOINES, IA (08/14/2019) — Georgie's Roast with the Most Wrap, a new food from G Mig's Wrap Stand, takes top honors in the 2019 People's Choice Best New Food Contest. The Chief from The Rib Shack and Chicken Street Tacos from the Chicken City stand were also in the competition.

EPA Announces $3.15 Million in Water-Quality Funding in Iowa

DES MOINES, IOWA (August 14, 2019) — Today, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced three EPA Farmer to Farmer Cooperative Agreements totaling more than $3.15 million to fund Iowa-based projects that improve water-quality, habitat, and environmental education.

Gov Kim Reynolds Announces Hometown Pride Water Tower Contest to Mark 2,000 Water Quality Loans to Iowa Communities

DES MOINES, IOWA (August 14, 2019) — In conjunction with Drinking Water Day yesterday at the Iowa State Fair and in celebration of 2,000 State Revolving Fund (SRF) water-quality loans made to Iowa communities, Governor Kim Reynolds, and Lieutenant Governor Adam Gregg announced the Home Town Water Tower Contest. The contest challenges Iowa communities to show off their hometown pride in a short video for a chance to win a one-of-a-kind water tower, designed by a local artist.

Iowa Supreme Court to Hear Oral Arguments in Muscatine

DES MOINES, IOWA (August 14, 2019) — On Tuesday, September 10, the Iowa Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in Muscatine, Iowa. The proceeding will take place in the Muscatine High School auditorium, 2705 Cedar Street. The oral arguments are open to the public and will begin at 7PM.

Iowa Federation of Labor AFL-CIO Hosting Presidential Candidates

ALTOONA, IOWA (August 14, 2019) — The Iowa Federation of Labor (IFL) will be holding its annual Convention next week (August 21-23) at the Meadows at the Prairie Meadows Convention Center.

The delegates will be working on resolutions, attending training and hearing speakers. Along with these events, the IFL will be allowing the 19 Presidential Candidates around 10 minutes, each to address the delegation. This event will be in the Bishop Ballrooms A and B.
